"Walking in the Spirit" - Pt. II

Updated: Nov 7

  1. When we want to hear from God, we need to start with the written Word that has already been given to us. It’s a strong foundation that is the most reliable way to hear what God says to us. When we try to hear from God without being rooted in His Word it leaves room for strange doctrines to enter our spirit. What is one belief you once held about God that changed when you got into the Word?

  2. It can be tempting to let our prayers to God become monologues instead of allowing them to be a dialogue. As if we’re giving God our “holy” wish list when it could be much more than that. What is something you feel a level of anxiety about? It could be something relatively small like a pop quiz or something big like life-altering medical test results. Even if it’s just for a minute, take some time to not just share your concerns, but listen for God’s voice.

  3. A prompting from the Holy Spirit is often subtle and tends to go against our natural leanings. Maybe you’re being told to put that grocery cart in the parking up, even though you didn’t use it and you’re in a hurry. A good litmus test for whether it’s from the Spirit or not is asking yourself if what you’re hearing serves your fleshly desires. If not, it’s a good chance it’s the Holy Spirit. Share a time you were told by a “still, small voice” to do something you didn’t want to do. Did you listen to it or did you go against it? Looking back, what is something you can learn from the experience?
