The Blueprint of Love - I Do, Again

  1. We’ve all done things we shouldn’t have, but we serve a good God who pursues us relentlessly. He told Hosea to marry Gomer so their relationship could be a living image of what Israel (and us) was like with God. Who have you witnessed show a similar, relentless love for someone they cared for? What are some things you learned from getting to see that?

  2. When Gomer went back to her former life, she no doubt thought there was freedom waiting for her outside of Hosea. But she experienced what usually happens with sin and found herself in captivity. Fortunately for her, Hosea was obedient and despite her betrayal, purchased her freedom. What is something that seeks to hold you captive? What steps do you take to avoid falling into a similar trap as Gomer?

  3. God’s love for us doesn’t just accept us but also changes us. Creating a more pure, whole version of who we are. His love for us will ultimately come out on top in the end. When we are in the thick of hard times, it can be easy to lose sight of this truth, and we need to remind ourselves of who God has been to us. Can you share a time when this truth felt particularly true?

Quotes:
“All God really wants is for you to honor Him”
“God doesn’t wait for us to be worthy. He chooses us when we’re wayward”
“Even when we walk away from God, He doesn’t walk away from us”
“God’s love doesn’t just accept us, it changes us”
