Protect Your Peace - "I'm Not Taking It"

Updated: Mar 16

  1. If we’re going to protect our peace, we must be more mindful of our thought lives. We must recognize the source of the thoughts coming to our mind, and if they’re not from God, it’s our responsibility to dismiss them. If we don’t we can be weighed down by stress and worries we were never meant to carry. Pastor Randy mentioned money, parenting, health concerns, job security, self-esteem, fear, death, and the unknown as things we may worry about. Which one of these is weighing the heaviest on you right now? Why?

  1. There’s an old saying, “You can’t stop a bird from flying over your head, but you can stop it from building a nest in it.” While we have very little control over what comes to our mind, we have much control over what we allow to stay there. Do you find it hard to capture thoughts that try to steal your peace? If so, what is one habit you can adopt today to help you be more intentional about not letting peace-stealing thoughts stay too long? If not, what is a habit that works for you that you think could benefit others?

  2. God wants us to have peace, but if that’s going to happen, we have to receive the thoughts He has for us. The only way to ensure peace is to allow ourselves to be governed by the Holy Spirit. Can you share a time you allowed the Holy Spirit to drive your thoughts? What is one thing in your life right now that gets in the way of you doing it more consistently?

Quotes:
"There are some things you can't work out"
"You can't rise above the weight of negative thoughts"
"Your body was not designed to tow some of the things you carry"
